Cayman Service Transition
March 17, 2010 -- Thompson Line is committed to providing the highest levels of service, security and efficiency that our customers have come to expect. In keeping with these commitments, we have made the decision to transition our Cayman Service to Tropical Shipping’s facilities in Miami and the Port of Palm Beach. This transition will allow us to improve our overall service delivery and more efficiently manage our customer’s shipping requirements.
The following changes will take place during this transition:
Thompson Line’s customer service and documentation activities will be relocated to Tropical’s Miami facility.
LCL customers can begin to transition their cargo immediately. In order to ensure that there is a seamless transition for our large volume and consolidation customers, we would encourage you to contact your sales representative to assist you with moving your cargo to our Miami LCL facility.
Below are the dates that we will begin receiving LCL dry cargo, LCL consolidations and FCL consolidations at our new Miami LCL receiving facility and LCL reefer cargo at the Port of Palm Beach Cold Storage.
LCL Dry, LCL Consolidations and FCL Consolidations
Monday, March 8, 2010 - We will begin receiving LCL cargo at Tropical’s Miami facility. To allow the necessary time for a smooth transition of cargo, the period of transition will extend through Friday, April 16, 2010. After that date, we will no longer receive LCL cargo at the current facility.
LCL Refrigerated Cargo
Monday, March 29, 2010 - LCL reefer will be transferred to the Port of Palm Beach Cold Storage. This facility is specifically designed to ensure the temperature chain is never broken. To allow for a smooth transition, all refrigerated LCL cargo will be received on and after March 29, 2010 at the Palm Beach Cold Storage facility only. After that date, we will no longer receive refrigerated LCL cargo at the current facility.
Customers can also take advantage of our National Pickup Service -- available anywhere in the continental United States and the metro areas of Toronto and Montreal, Canada -- this service allows Thompson Line customers to arrange for inland pick-up on shipments of dry, commercial LCL cargo to be delivered to our Miami LCL facility with just one phone call.
Other service and special features of the new Miami LCL facility include:
