Due to the increased costs associated with enhanced security measures, and in order to offset the continued cost of compliance with U.S. federal, state and local security regulations, Tropical Shipping will implement a U.S. Port Security Surcharge increase effective June 18, 2017. These security surcharge increases are assessed to recover costs incurred for operational expenses, equipment, and security infrastructure improvements for access control to the U.S. and U.S. territory ports that Tropical Shipping services, as well as, the communications and systems required to ensure continued compliance with Port Security.
The increase will apply to all shipments moving between the Continental U.S., Puerto Rico, St. Croix, St. John or St. Thomas and Anguilla, Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Nevis, St. Barths, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent, Trinidad and Tobago as follows:
