Due to the increased costs associated with securing flatracks, Tropical Shipping will increase the flatrack securing surcharge for chains, binders and hook(s) for shipper loaded equipment, effective June 11, 2017.
In general, heavy equipment and other steel and metal cargoes require chains and binders for proper securement. Other cargo types can be secured with straps.
The following increase will apply for all shipper loaded flatrack or flatbed equipment, in addition to Carrier Handling Charges, whenever Tropical Shipping supplies chains, binder or hook(s) to the shipper and they are applied by the shipper:
