Tropical Shipping Demurrage Program within North America

Invoicing and Collection of the North America Demurrage charges will be managed through Veconinter, with whom we have contracted to process our Demurrage program.

Demurrage charges will be assessed on all equipment within North America 

Demurrage is defined as: Equipment remaining on port facilities beyond an agreed period of time. When equipment is incurring demurrage, the equipment is in the carrier’s possession.

Free Time is calculated separately for each piece of equipment. Free time starts the next calendar day after vessel discharge for Import shipments and the next calendar day after the equipment has been interchanged into the Carrier’s facility for Export shipments.

  • Demurrage charges currently applies to Carrier owned equipment

    Demurrage charges will also apply to Shipper-Owned Equipment, effective December 1st, 2019.

  • Exports rolled for carrier convenience (i.e. vessel capacity) will have the demurrage clock stopped based on original intended sail date.
  • Equipment Placed on hold by any Governmental Agency shall receive additional Free Time commensurate with the Government hold, not to exceed 7 days.

Effective December 1st, 2019 the current Storage Charges for FCL Equipment will be expired, and will default to the Demurrage Program.
