Hurricane Matthew Update for Monday

October 3, 2016 By Admin

We continue to monitor the intensity and path of Hurricane Matthew, the most powerful storm of the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

  • Due to the storm our sailing to Nassau tomorrow, Tuesday, October 4 is cancelled.
  • The Nassau port will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. It will re-open Friday morning, October 7.
  • Our vessel will sail from the Port of Palm Beach on Thursday, October 6 and arrive in Nassau Friday, October 7.

The 8 AM advisory from the National Hurricane Center states that Matthew is moving towards the north at near 6 miles per hour. A general northward motion is expected through Tuesday. On the forecast track, the center of Matthew will approach Jamaica and southwestern Haiti tonight, and eastern Cuba tomorrow. Currently a dangerous category 4 hurricane, Matthew’s maximum sustained winds are near 130 with higher gusts. Matthew is expected to remain a powerful hurricane through early Wednesday.
